Design of dynamic testing system for automotive exhaust components

Abstract: For the need of dynamic vehicle exhaust composition detection， the authors designed non-dispersive infrared gas detection chamber， control system and PC software， and developed a simple transient detector. The control system takes ARM7 as the core， the signal of sensor is amplified and conversed by A/D module， and each concentration of exhaust component is displayed and stored in real time. The data produced by detecting instrument were transferred to the computer through USB interface， the statistics of each component concentration and flow was carried out through PC software， and the emission of the car in different conditions was analyzed. The experimental results showed that the instrument can dynamically detect gas composition and flow for cars in different working conditions. The test results directly determine the environmental issue， and the method is convenient and practical.
